地球上最像外星的地方 索科特拉島（Socotra）

有「印度洋上的處女島」之稱的索科特拉島（Socotra），被非洲大陸孤立了數百萬年，島嶼上出現數千種奇特稀有的動植物，其中有三分之ㄧ屬於島上特有生物。獨特的自然奇觀，被喻為是地球上最像外星的地方；並被旅遊雜誌「寂寞星球」（Lonely Planet）評選為2011年全球最佳世外桃源島嶼。

索科特拉島位於阿拉伯海與亞丁灣的交界處，長250公里，是由4座小島和2座岩石小島組合而成的群島，屬於葉門領土。脫離非洲大陸已經有1800萬年的歷史，長期的地理隔離，在惡劣的氣候與乾燥的環境之下，孕育出825種極罕見的物種；有37%的植物，90%的爬蟲動物和95%的蝸牛品種，都是在地球上其它地方看不到的。
